7 live shows coming to Southern California casinos in January

A new year means new entertainment acts at Southern California’s casinos. This month brings comedy shows, a live psychic reading, and of course, several different genres of music.

Here are seven events to check out in January.

1) Stand-up comedian Carrot Top is bringing his comedy show to Fantasy Springs Resort on Friday, Jan. 13. The performer, who has a residency at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, is known for his self-deprecating humor and for using several different props in his shows.

2) KC and The Sunshine Band are bringing groove, disco and funk to Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage on Friday, Jan. 27. The Grammy-award-winning band is known for hits such as “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty” and “I’m Your Boogie Man.”

3) Country and pop singer Leann Rimes will perform at Pala Casino Spa & Resort on Friday, Jan. 27. Rimes’ first got her first break in her musical career in her teens with the release of “Blue” and the album of the same name that had chart-topping success. She’s known for songs such as “How Do I Live,” “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” and “Life Goes On.”

4) If you’ve ever been curious about making contact with the dearly departed, now is your chance with Theresa Caputo’s live shows at Pechanga Resort Casino on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28. Caputo is known for her reality television show “Long Island Medium,” where she chronicles her work with clients who hope to connect with their deceased loved ones.

5) If late 1990s and 2000s pop was your jam, you’ll want to catch the Pop Tour stop at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa on Saturday, Jan. 28. Chris Kirkpatrick of NSYNC will host an event featuring performances by Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray, O-Town, David Cook, Ryan Cabrera and LFO.

6) The lead singers of two of the most notable hair metal bands of the 1980s are joining forces to perform at Spotlight 29 Casino on Saturday, Jan. 28. Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt are performing some of their bands’ hits. Mötley Crüe is best known for songs such as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Shout At The Devil.” Ratt is best known for songs such as “Round and Round,” “Back for More” and “Wanted Man.”

7) Comedian Leslie Jones will perform at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino on Saturday, Jan. 28. Jones got her start in Los Angeles and played local venues, slowly building her comedy profile before moving to New York and landing a successful run on “Saturday Night Live,” where she worked her way up from a writer to a cast member. She is also known for her acting roles in films, such as “Trainwreck,” “Coming 2 America” and the “Ghostbusters” reboot.
