After 25 years with the American Ballet Theatre — 10 as a principal dancer — Misty Copeland will take her final bow on October 22. As she retires, Copeland is turning her focus to Life in Motion Productions, the company she co-founded with former ballerina Leyla Fayyaz. Their latest project, Match in a Haystack, now in theaters and expanding nationwide, follows a Ukrainian dance troupe reuniting for their first performance since Russia’s 2022 invasion. Copeland also has a new picture book, Bunheads, Act 2: The Dance of Courage.
