As McDonald’s prepares to offer Happy Meals in Halloween Pails beginning Oct. 18, a similar collectible appears to have sold out in blinding speed at several of its restaurants.
McDonald’s launched a promotion called the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, often referred to by fans as the adult Happy Meal, on Oct. 3.
The box is a partnership with streetwear company Cactus Plant Flea Market. It contains either a Big Mac or Chicken McNuggets combo and one of four figurines created by CPFM. Three are McDonald’s characters — Grimace, Birdie and the Hamburglar — and one is a creature called Cactus Buddy.
As early as Monday, Twitter users began to tweet about the box being sold out or being offered a box with a regular Happy Meal toy instead of the advertised designer figurines.
the adult happy meals sold out under an hour and 30 year olds are getting heated at me in the front counter bc of it

A spot check of McDonald’s restaurants in the Inland Empire found drive-thrus with photocopied signs with messages such as, “Sorry, we are sold out of the Artist Box” and, “Unfortunately we are temporarily out of the Cactus Plant Flea Market Adult Happy Meal. We Apologize for the inconvenience.”
Asked for comment, McDonald’s stated in an email that boxes would be on sale while supplies last and that fans can purchase limited edition Cactus Plant Flea Market swag online at cpfmmcdonalds.com.
Some Twitter users who were able to get the box appear to be satisfied.
