Angel City FC signs defender Jasmyne Spencer to 2-year contract

Jasmyne Spencer is coming back to Angel City FC.

Spencer, who was a free agent, signed a two-year guaranteed contract, with a club option for a third, Monday.

Spencer recently completed her 10th season in the NWSL.

“I’m so excited to be returning to Angel City,” Spencer said. “We are building something incredible here in LA and there’s no place I’d rather be. … We’ve got unfinished business.”

Spencer made 15 appearances last season, starting 10 games. She moved to defender upon her arrival at Angel City.

“We are thrilled that Jasmyne will continue to bring her incredible leadership and tenacity on the pitch back to Angel City,” ACFC general manager Angela Hucles Mangano said. “She is a dynamic player and an important piece to our club goals moving forward and into next season.”

Spencer was selected in the NWSL Expansion Draft from the Houston Dash.

Spencer has made 155 career appearances in the NWSL.

The 2023 NWSL will begin March 25. Preseason training camp can open as early as Jan. 23, but no later than Feb. 6.
