Beyonce to Give Away $2 Million in Grants to Black-owned Small Businesses and College Scholarships

      Los Angeles is one of ten cities set to receive $100,000 in grants for small business relief courtesy of Beyonce and her BeyGOOD Foundation. In various cities throughout her Renaissance World Tour, BeyGOOD will support entrepreneurs through Black Parade Route luncheons, celebrating small business owners, with grant opportunities being awarded and a foray of services with global partners to promote business sustainability.

      One thousand small businesses will be supported with a commitment totaling one million dollars. Additionally, One hundred entrepreneurs will be selected in cities along the tour’s route — including London, Chicago, New York City and Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston — to attend the Black Parade Route Luncheons.

      BeyGOOD will also support students through scholarship funds that will be given to colleges and universities in ten different cities along the tour. Each school will be given one hundred thousand dollars and will select the student recipients. BeyGOOD’s total scholarship commitment during the tour will be an additional one million dollars.

      “From scholarships to the water crisis in Burundi, to helping families during Hurricane Harvey in my hometown, Houston, it has been beyond fulfilling to be of service,” Beyoncé said in a news release. “Now as a foundation, we will continue the work of engaging partners through innovative programs to impact even more people.”

      “We believe that everyone has the right to economic equity. And we are keenly aware of the barriers to access, opportunity, and resources that disproportionately impact BIPOC communi-ties,” BeyGOOD executive director Ivy McGregor added. “We know that small businesses support and are a backbone of their economy,”

      Small Black-owned business owners have just one day to apply for the granst. Applications are available at: www.BeyGood.org through April 27.

      Those interested will need to provide proof of ownership, financial need, revenues and expenses for 2020-2022; a recent statement, completed W9, the impact of the grant and what the funds will be used for.
