The stage is set for innovation as Black Ambition, the nonprofit organization founded by musician and record producer Pharrell Williams, launches its 2025 Black Ambition Prize Competition. This groundbreaking initiative seeks to empower underrepresented entrepreneurs by providing over $1 million in funding to up to 25 ambitious innovators.

Focused on industries like healthcare, technology, artificial intelligence, consumer products and services, and media and entertainment, the competition doesn’t stop with funding. It offers a well-rounded 12-week program that includes mentorship, access to industry leaders and investors, and critical business development support. Through these efforts, Black Ambition aims to create pathways for growth, expand access to capital, and shine a spotlight on the remarkable talents within historically overlooked communities.

To ensure a broad and inclusive scope, the competition is open to teams with at least one founding member from underrepresented backgrounds, such as Black, Latinx, LGBTQ individuals, first-generation immigrants, first-generation college graduates, or those who grew up in historically underserved circumstances. It also explicitly welcomes founders from any background traditionally disregarded by venture capital funding. Each team must have at least one founder or co-founder in a key leadership role—at the C-Suite or VP level—and should represent a growth-ready company that has raised no more than $1 million in outside funding.

The stakes are high, but so are the rewards. Ventures meeting the eligibility criteria will compete for funding ranging from $20,000 to $100,000. Beyond monetary awards, selected applicants will receive a wealth of support, including expert coaching, leadership and wellness workshops, access to a vibrant community of like-minded entrepreneurs, and curated introductions to investors. Participants can also look forward to exclusive training opportunities with global brands and additional resources valued at more than $20,000, through partnerships that will enhance their venture’s visibility and growth.

The competition is tailored innovators who have already tested their concepts, whether through a working prototype, a minimum viable product, or other significant progress. Black Ambition recognizes the necessity of increasing representation and diversity in industries where it has been historically lacking. By combining groundbreaking ideas with unmatched support, the initiative aims to transform industries and pave the way for systemic change.

Applications will remain open until May 2nd, 9 PM ET. To learn more about eligibility and find resources to assist with the application process, visit the Black Ambition website.
