2024 Young Legislators Program: Engaging High Schoolers in Political Arena, Now Accepting Applications

In an effort to foster the next generation of political leaders and give high school seniors a front-row seat to the political arena, Assemblymember Chris Holden (Pasadena) announced that the 2024 Young Legislators Program is now accepting applications. In its ninth year, the Young Legislators Program offers high students, over five months, a chance to meet once a month at a selected venue to learn about the legislative process, public policy, and quality of life issues that impact the lives of Californians.

“I enjoy this time of the year because we get to work with passionate students from across my district,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden. “I have no doubt this year’s program will again have a lasting impact on the students, and I look forward to meeting the 2024 Young Legislators.”

The alumni of the program praised the exclusive access and insight into how government functions while making long-lasting friendships along the way. “Young Legislators was an amazing program to be a part of…anyone interested in government or curious about how our cities and state remain operating would enjoy it just as much as I did,” said Evan Lyons, a 2023 graduate.

Anyone interested in applying must commit to five monthly, Saturday meetings starting in January 2024 and submit applications by December 5, 2023. Other requirements include having at least a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA, and students must live or attend school within the 41st Assembly District. Program details and applications are available online here.
