Yusef Salaam, one of the exonerated Central Park Five, won a primary in New York City on last month. The 49-year old—who spent six years in prison after being wrongfully convicted—is now on track to representing New York City’s 9th District on the city council. Unofficial results from the city’s Board of Elections showed him as the first choice of 50.1% of voters.
