Cooler temperatures, light showers forecast in Southern California

Colder weather across Southern California is expected to bring lightly scattered rain showers and mountain snow through the evening on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Less than an inch of snowfall is predicted to reach areas above 5,000 feet in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains by Tuesday night, said David Gomberg, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Los Angeles Office.

Occasional gusty winds of up to 20 mph are expected.

Dry, cooler weather on Wednesday should bring clear and sunny skies to the Los Angeles and Orange County regions.

Highs will remain in the high 50s and low 60s, said Mark Moede, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s San Diego Office. Similar weather should reach the Riverside and San Bernardino areas, with mostly clear, sunny skies on Wednesday. Temperature are expected to reach 58 degrees, with humidity levels up to 76 percent in Lake Elsinore and Ontario.

Clear skies should continue through Wednesday night, with colder weather leading to low temperatures of 43 degrees in Santa Ana and 41 in Pasadena.

Another chance of rain showers and mountain snow may return as early as Friday evening with cooler temperatures continuing through the weekend.

Wildfire risks have continued to dwindle as a result of this and other recent rainy weather, providing much-needed moisture to vegetation, according to both meteorologists.
