The final weeks of the high school sports season are upon us. That means just a few teams are still alive with hopes of winning a CIF Southern or City Section title.
In the Southern Section, just three local baseball teams remain, all of which will play in a semifinal Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
Crespi (19-7-3) will travel to Aquinas (25-4) in the Division 2 semifinals and on the other side of the same bracket, Calabasas (22-9) will travel to South Hills (22-6). If Crespi and Calabasas prevail, it would set up a double-local Division 2 final on Friday or Saturday at Long Beach State’s Blair Field.
Specific date, time and location for each divisional final game will be announced on May 17.
Castaic, which is embarking on the school’s first postseason run in its history, is one win away from a trip to the CIF Southern Section Division 6 final. The Coyotes (22-7-1) will host Bloomington (25-3) in the semifinals Tuesday.
The Village Christian softball team is the only local team that reached a CIF final this season. The Crusaders (17-7-) will take on JW North (27-3-0) in the Division 6 final on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Irvine at Deanna Manning Stadium.
CITY SECTION
