DAILY NEWS BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Name: Dijon Stanley

School: Granada Hills Charter

Sport: Football

Year: Senior

Noteworthy: Stanley impressed again last weekend, running for 273 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries in the Highlanders’ 56-55 win at Laguna Beach in the CIF State Division 4-A Southern California regional bowl game. The Utah commit ran for 378 yards and five TDs in the Division I City final win over Palisades two weekends ago.

Granada Hills will now play in the 4-A CIF State championship on Saturday at San Marin High at 6 p.m.

“We don’t see speed like that with opponents we play,” Laguna Beach coach John Shanahan said of Stanley. “There’s a reason that guy is going to Utah. He is the real deal.”
