Here is this week’s Daily News high school football rankings, which include the team’s rank, record, last week’s ranking and its game this week.
DAILY NEWS FOOTBALL TOP 15
1. Chaminade (5-0): The Eagles had a bye last week and have their Mission League opener this week against Alemany.

2. West Ranch (6-0): Ryan Staub helped to deliver the Wildcats a 43-6 romping of Saugus with 380 yards passing and five touchdowns. He’s up to 26 touchdowns and no interceptions this season.
Last week: No. 2 | This week: at Hart, Friday
3. Oaks Christian (3-2): The Lions showed great focus by taking down Loyola 34-7 at home ahead of its Marmonte League opener against Calabasas. Quarterback Nate Bennett has done well in place of injured Devin Tate.
4. Sierra Canyon (2-3): The Trailblazers had a bye last week and will prepare this week for the program’s first-ever Mission League game at home against Bishop Amat.

5. Thousand Oaks (5-0): The Lancers move up to the top five after outlasting a feisty Newbury Park team in double overtime, 41-38. Chase Martin scored three touchdowns, including the game winner.

6. Newbury Park (5-1): The Panthers were down 20-0 before rallying back to force overtime in a Canyon League thriller, but they fell short in double OT. Brady Smigiel threw for 418 yards, but had four interceptions. The freshman is mortal …
Last week: No. 5 | This week: vs. Moorpark, Friday
7. Saugus (4-2): The Centurions didn’t have an answer for West Ranch’s offense in last week’s 43-6 loss. Now, they’ll have to root for Valencia to knock off West Ranch (Oct. 7) to keep alive its hopes for a share of the Foothill League title.
Last week: No. 3 | This week: Bye
8. Simi Valley (3-2): The Pioneers have lost two straight. That’s two more than all of last year in the regular season. A little humble pie might be good for Simi Valley heading into Marmonte League play.
Last week: No. 8 | This week: at Westlake, Friday
9. Highland (4-1): The Bulldogs will likely go the rest of the year sitting at No. 9 because the Golden League won’t put up much of a fight.
Last week: No. 9 | This week: vs. Eastside, Friday
10. Alemany (2-2): The Warriors went on the road with no quarterback and beat Lawndale 18-14 by running the wildcat offense with Jeremiah Claiborne and Paden White. QB CJ Ceron is out for the year with a broken leg. Alemany is going to run, run, run.

11. Valencia (3-3): The Vikings took down Castaic 66-6, but will now have a testy game against Golden Valley on Friday. That game might be closer than most think.
Last week: No. 10 | This week: vs. Golden Valley, Friday
12. Moorpark (4-1): The Musketeers are off to a surprising start after taking down Oak Park 34-27. Connor Smith passed for 195 yards and rushed for three touchdowns in the win. Running back Luke Cochran rushed for 103 yards and two scores. Watch out for Moorpark.

13. Calabasas (4-1): The Coyotes went on the road to beat Crescenta Valley 57-20 thanks to four touchdown passes from QB Alonzo Contreras. Aaron Butler had more than 100 all-purpose yards in the game.
Last week: No. 14 | This week: at Oaks Christian, Friday
14. St. Francis (3-2): The Golden Knights are now 3-2 instead of 2-3 after Long Beach Millikan had to forfeit its wins over St. Francis earlier this season. St. Francis had a bye last week and will now prepare for Paraclete at home.
Last week: No. 12 | This week: vs. Paraclete, Friday
15. Golden Valley (5-1): The Grizzlies moved to 2-0 in the Foothill League after taking down Hart 34-20. Ajani Smith had six catches for 94 yards to go along with two receiving touchdowns and two interceptions on defense.
