Dodgers score 4 runs in 7th inning to beat Royals

THE GAME: The Dodgers scored four times in the seventh inning then held on to beat the Kansas City Royals, 7-6, on Saturday night at Surprise Stadium, narrowly avoiding a third consecutive tie in Surprise, Ariz.

PITCHING REPORT: Right-hander Ryan Pepiot gave up a run on three hits in the first inning but retired the side in order in his second inning. … Brusdar Graterol gave up a leadoff single but struck out two of the next three batters in his scoreless inning. … Landon Knack struck out three in 1⅔ innings. But he also gave up a triple and a two-run home run to Michael Massey that tied the score in the sixth inning. … Lefty reliever Adam Kolarek gave up two runs in his inning of work. … Right-hander Jordan Yamamoto gave up a home run with two outs in the ninth to make it a one-run game.

HITTING REPORT: Trayce Thompson doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning. Eddys Leonard doubled in two runs later that inning. Thompson was on base three times with two walks and his double. … Jason Heyward was 2 for 3 with his second home run of the spring. He is 4 for 10. … James Outman had two hits, a single and his first home run of the spring, and scored two runs. He leads the Dodgers with five hits this spring (in 11 at-bats). … Miguel Rojas had a single and a double. He is also 4 for 10 this spring.
