Noteworthy: He rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in the Vanguards’ 42-27 win over Canyon in a North Hills League game. Smith (5-9, 195), who plays running back and linebacker, also contributed three tackles, one interception and two pass break-up. He has rushed for 1,055 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, averaging 7 yards a carry, and has two touchdown receptions. “He’s been labeled ‘undersized’ and he’s trying to prove to everybody that they’re wrong,” said El Modena coach Matt Mitchell. “He’s very a hard-working kid.”
