Elton John will perform at the 11th annual LACMA Art+Film Gala

Elton John has been announced as the performer at the 11th annual LACMA Art+Film Gala, which honors Pasadena-based visual artist Helen Pashigan and South Korean director and screenwriter Park Chan-wook.

The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 at LACMA in Los Angeles and comes ahead of John’s final North American shows on the long-running Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour at Dodger Stadium in L.A. on Nov. 17 and 19-20. The trio of concerts will commemorate John’s historic performance at the ballpark in October 1975.

The lengthy goodbye kicked off in September 2018 and John made sold-out stops at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in Los Angeles, Valley View Casino Center in San Diego and Honda Center in Anaheim. The tour was postponed by the pandemic, but relaunched last year. The tour features an elaborate stage production with stunning visuals and a wide variety of hits that span his 50-year career.

LACMA’s Art+Film Gala is co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio and presented by Gucci, which has had a long relationship with John. In 2018, the Gucci runway show was inspired by John’s various onstage looks and the high fashion clothing company launched a collection inspired by John’s 1971 single “Levon.” Gucci artistic director Alessandro Michele also designed outfits for the farewell tour.
