Galaxy midfielder Samuel Grandsir returns to France after two seasons

Samuel Grandsir, who joined the Galaxy ahead of the 2021 season from AS Monaco is returning to France.

The Galaxy announced Monday that Grandsir has been transferred to Le Havre AC in the French Ligue 2.

Grandsir, 26, had yet to report to training camp and at the outset Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said that Grandsir was dealing with personal issues in France and wanted to return home to be near family.

“We want to thank Sam for his contributions to the club and we wish him and his family all the best as they return back to France,” Vanney said.

The Galaxy freed up a million dollars in salary cap space with the move. The club will also retain a sell-on percentage of any transfer fee if Grandsir is sold to another club.
