New Year, Goodyear … Rose Queen, Royal Court … .

It all came together Sunday, Nov. 6, on the ground in Carson, and in the skies above Southern California.

The Goodyear Blimp celebrated the newly crowned Queen Bella Ballard and the Tournament of Roses Royal Court.

Along with blimp flights to celebrate the court’s achievements, the event also served as an unofficial kickoff to the blimp’s Toys For Tots events, as the Royal Court arrived bearing the first toys of this year’s campaign.

But as well grounded as the queen and her Court are, they also took rides on the Blimp.

With Ballard as queen, members of the Royal Court are: Salia Baligh of Pasadena, a senior at the all-girls Alverno Heights Academy; Michelle Cortez-Peralta of Pasadena, a senior at Pasadena High School; Adrian Crick of Altadena, a senior at Sequoyah School; Zoe Denoncourt of Pasadena, a senior at Marshall Fundamental; Sahanna Rajinikanthan of Arcadia, a senior at Arcadia High School; and Uma Wittenberg of La Cañada Flintridge, a senior at La Cañada High School.

As their visit to the Blimp base in Carson showed, they are ambassadors for Tournament of Roses festivities, which will go on all the way up to to Jan. 2,  day of the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl in 2023.
