It’s 5.5-miles of smelling the roses.
The Rose Parade Route 2023 is set, though it didn’t take much settting. It’s the same route as it was in 2022, and so on.
Nevertheless, it always seems fresh, as new crowds of thousands of spectators, and a new crop of colorful parade entries descend on it each year.
Jan. 2, 2023 will be no different, as the two-hour parade weaves its way through the city core.
Here’s the plan:
The Rose Parade route begins at the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena.
It travels north on Orange Grove at 2 1/2-miles per hour pace and then turns east onto Colorado, where the bulk of the parade viewing takes place moving east on Colorado passing all your favorite businesses in Old Town.

Near the end of the route, the parade turns north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard and concludes at Villa Street.

The Pasadena Police Department, supported by the Tournament of Roses Association and city officials, will close the Rose Parade route early to vehicular traffic to enhance public safety measures.
But if you’re up for a brisk early jog or bike ride on what is normally a busy Colorado, you can catch one before it’s shut down to all traffic.

Route closures are effective 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 2 p.m. on or around Parade Day, along Colorado, from Orange Grove to Sierra Madre Boulevard, and northbound on Sierra Madre to Paloma Street.
The Tournament of Roses says residents and merchants in the area hosting viewing parties or receiving deliveries during the proposed street closures must notify their guests or vendors to arrive prior to the 10 p.m. closure. Guests and vendors arriving after the closure may park in nearby areas that allow for unrestricted parking.
