LA archbishop celebrates All Souls’ Mass in Long Beach

Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez stopped by Long Beach on Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, for a Mass celebrating All Souls’ Day.

Gomez celebrated the Mass at All Souls Cemetery & Mortuary. The event, attended by a crowd of parishoners also featured a performance by the children’s choir of St. Pancratius School, which is in Lakewood.

All Saints’ Day is celebrated annually on Nov. 1 to remember all saints and martyrs during Christian history. It is followed by All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2 to commemorate those who have passed within the faith.

All Souls’ Day is begins a month of reflection for the “faithful departed,” according to a press release from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
