The latest Daily News boys basketball rankings as of Jan. 2:

DAILY NEWS BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 10

(Rank, team, record)

1. Harvard-Westlake (16-1): The Wolverines will enter Mission League play vying for the league title, and potentially, the CIF Southern Section Open Division’s No. 1 seed. Harvard-Westlake’s only loss came to Liberty of Nevada in the Classic at Damien’s Platinum Division final.

2. West Ranch (15-1): The Wildcats have locked up an Open Division berth in theory. The resume is undeniable, now with a national tournament victory and two wins over Notre Dame Sherman Oaks. West Ranch’s only loss is to Rancho Christian.

3. Sierra Canyon (13-3): The Trailblazers finished third in the Les Schwab Invitational in Portland, Ore. last week, including a win over Bishop Gorman of Nevada. Bronny James shot the ball really well and was named All-Tournament.

4. Notre Dame (9-6): The Knights’ talent is undeniable, but question marks are rising heading into Mission League play, especially after squandering a 25-points lead in a 65-61 overtime loss to West Ranch last week.

5. Village Christian (13-3): The Crusaders’ only losses this season are to Bishop Montgomery, West Ranch – both Open Division-bound teams – and Lone Peak of Utah.

Last week: 5

6. Campbell Hall (10-5): The Vikings used back-to-back buzzer beaters in semifinal and final to win the Classic at Damien Silver Division title.

7. St. Francis (13-4): The Golden Knights were the on the losing end of Campbell Hall’s buzzer beater, but proved they’ll be a tough out in the Mission League, especially at home.

8. Heritage Christian (9-4): The Warriors’ storyline through the first two months hasn’t changed: big-time talent that’s still figuring it out. Gio Goree, Seven Bahati, Tae Simmons and Dillan Shaw are All-Area-level players.

9. Crespi (15-3): The Celts have racked up 15 wins before the turn of the new year and will now test their mettle against the gauntlet of the Mission League.

10. Oaks Christian (14-2): The Lions have been one of the surprises early this season and will look to compete for a Marmonte League title.
