Magnitude 3.4 earthquake hits near coast in Malibu area

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck near the coast in the Malibu area Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 8:05 a.m. It was centered in the Carbon Canyon area of Malibu, according to a USGS map.

The 3.7-mile-deep quake was centered 7.7 miles south of Calabasas.

The quake was felt as a single, sharp jolt in the San Fernando Valley.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage.
