LOS ANGELES — A man was shot to death during a dispute with another man outside a North Hills motel, and police Monday sought the public’s help to solve the crime.

The shooting was reported about 9:40 p.m. Sunday in the 8400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 35-year-old man suffered a chest wound, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

“According to witnesses, the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot of the motel and fired at him multiple times before fleeing on foot toward Sepulveda Boulevard,” police said in a statement.

The suspect was described only as a man in his mid-20s. A motive for the crime was not known.
