HOLLYWOOD — A man was fatally shot early Monday near a homeless encampment in Hollywood, and an investigation was underway.
The shooting was reported about 2:30 a.m. near Vine Street and La Mirada Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Information was not immediately available on the identity of the man, who police believe was in his 40s and homeless.
“When officers arrived, they located a victim of a shooting on the sidewalk,” police said in a statement. “Officers attempted life-saving measures prior to the arrival of paramedics. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.”
No arrests were reported, and no suspect information was available.
