Man walking on railroad tracks in Corona struck by train, dies

A man who was walking on the railroad tracks in Corona died when he was hit by a train on Friday afternoon, Nov. 4, the Corona Police Department said.

The collision was reported at 4:07 p.m. The man, using headphones, was walking on the tracks that parallel Maple Street west of Smith Street, said Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis, a Police Department spokesman. Witnesses said he did not appear to see the Metrolink train coming, Kouroubacalis said.

There were about 90 passengers on board, he said.

The train, No. 709 on the 91/Perris Valley Line, was headed to Union Station in Los Angeles.
