The UCLA football team (5-0 overall, 2-0 Pac-12) will host defensive back Clark Phillips III and No. 11 Utah (4-1, 2-0) at the Rose Bowl Saturday afternoon. While the No. 18 Bruins are coming off a victory over No. 21 Washington, this week’s matchup is expected to be an even bigger test of the season so far.
Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson outdueled Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who entered the game as the conference’s darling with early Heisman Trophy buzz. The signature win has also led to Thompson-Robinson receiving various honors this week, including Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Phillips, out of La Habra High, was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after his three interception-performance against Oregon State. He returned one of those interceptions back for a touchdown.
