Bellarmine (2-4) at No. 19 UCLA Bruins (4-2)

When: 4 p.m. Sunday

Where: Pauley Pavilion

TV/Radio: Pac-12 Network/AM 570 or 1150

Local team latest result: UCLA reached the 100-point mark for the third time in four seasons with its 100-53 win over Pepperdine Wednesday night, highlighted by a career night from freshman guard Amari Bailey, who poured in 19 points with three 3-pointers. It was a good bounce-back victory for the Bruins after suffering two losses last weekend in Las Vegas. Six Bruins scored in double figures and walk-on Evan Manjikian hit a 3-pointer in his career debut as a Bruin to get UCLA to the 100-point mark.

Opponent latest result: Bellarmine made noise earlier this season when it beat Louisville 67-66. Since then, the Knights have lost four of their past five games, including an 80-59 loss to Loyola Marymount on Friday during their West Coast trip. The Knights are led by 6-foot-5 freshman guard Peter Suder, who scores 12.5 points per game. Bellarmine faced UCLA last year in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. The Bruins won 75-62, as then-freshman Peyton Watson scored a season-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting.

Local team trend watch: Amari Bailey was close to being the first UCLA freshman to score at least 20 points in a game since Jake Kyman did it three times the 2019-20 season. Bailey’s comfort level was apparent Wednesday night, working more out of the pick-and-roll and creating more with the ball in his hands in a halfcourt setting. He added four assists to his 19-point performance, three to Adem Bona for dunks. Bailey’s play could start to trend upwards even more Sunday night against Bellarmine. The last UCLA freshman to reach the 30-point mark in a game was TJ Leaf on Feb. 1, 2017, when he scored 32 points at Washington State.
