Pedestrian killed in Tarzana hit-and-run crash

Police were searching Sunday for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Tarzana late Saturday night.

The victim, who was only described as a man in his mid 30s, was walking across Belmar Avenue when a driver made a left turn from Friar Street at around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, said Los Angeles Police Department traffic detectives in the San Fernando Valley.

The driver hit the man, and continued driving, leaving him in the street with “severe injuries,” LAPD said in a statement.

When paramedics got there, they transported the victim to a hospital, where he later died.

LAPD did not identify the victim Sunday. The only information given about the driver was that they were in a Nissan.

LAPD said anyone who comes forward with information about the crash identifying the driver would be eligible for a $50,000 reward.

The department asked anyone with information to call detectives at (818) 644-8028 or (818) 644-8155.
