Ringo Starr will kick off his spring tour at Pechanga Resort Casino in May

Ringo Starr, drummer of the iconic British rock band the Beatles will kick off a spring tour with his All Starr Band at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula on May 19.

Venue presale tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and tickets go on sale to the general public at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at pechanga.com.

Starr will have six additional stops in California, including three in Southern California at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay in San Diego on May 28 and 31 and Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on June 15. Tickets for Humphrey’s and the Greek show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Ticketmaster.com.

Starr rose to prominence as the drummer of Rory Storm and The Hurricanes, which preceded his role in the Beatles. Rory Storm and The Hurricanes became one of Liverpool’s biggest acts in the late ’50s. Their success allowed the band to pick up residencies and other large shows in the U.K., eventually leading them to rub shoulders with the Beatles.

By 1962, Starr accepted an offer to join the Beatles and replace their drummer Pete Best. The decision drew backlash from fans of Best, but by the following year, fans had accepted Starr and even inspired Cher to write “Ringo, I Love You” who wrote it under her pseudonym, Bonnie Joe Mason.

Starr mainly played drums for the band, but occasionally sang one track on their albums. Some of the songs in which he sang include “Yellow Submarine,” “With a Little Help from My Friends” and “Don’t Pass Me By.”

After The Beatles split, Starr, like others in the group, began solo projects where he found success. By 1989, the drummer had founded his ongoing project, Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band. Starr was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Beatles in 1988 and, in 2015, was inducted as a solo artist.
