Season’s Screamings convention brings holiday horror to Pasadena

The holidays will take a dark turn as Season’s Screamings returns to Pasadena.

Tickets are now on sale for the holiday-horror con, which comes back to the Pasadena Convention Center Dec. 2-4. Now through Nov. 1, event producers are offering fans a special deal and giving 25 percent off general admission with a discount code found on the official Instagram pages of convention vendors including Unwrapped Art, Underworld Subroxxa, Creep I.E. Con and Black Mast Clothing & Design.

Season’s Screamings is the smaller version of the annual Midsummer Scream, which took place at the Long Beach Convention Center July 29-31, attracting about 30,000 fans of all things horror.

This Christmas version will include the Hall of Yuletide Spirits, a darkened corner of the convention center that will house mini haunts from producers of annual walk-thru attractions like Ontario’s The Dreich Society, Orange County’s Prism Haunted House and the Pasadena-based Ghostwood Manor.

There will also be celebrity appearances and meet-and-greets including Keith David, who appeared in films like “The Thing,” “They Live” and more recently Jordan Peele’s thriller “Nope.” And you’ll want to phone home and tell everyone you met Henry Thomas, the star of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” who has also appeared in “Doctor Sleep” and “The Haunting of Hill House.”

Over 200 vendors are scheduled to be on deck, selling clothing, props, decorations, artwork and comic books. There’s also a burlesque show on Friday night and a Krampus run on Saturday and Sunday. They’ll screen horror-themed short films and host panel discussions touching on topics like the legacy of the horror classic “The Shining” and explore the impact of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” with Sara Karloff, the daughter of Boris Karloff, who narrated the animated classic.

Tickets are $30-$95 and can be purchased at midsummerscream.org.
