What started as a casual post quickly escalated into a full-blown social media war, with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and WNBA star Angel Reese taking direct aim at former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII). The social media storm erupted after Griffin III claimed to have insider information about WNBA star Angel Reese’s feelings towards a rumored feud. But it didn’t take long for NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to step in—loudly and unapologetically.

A longtime mentor and supporter of Reese, Shaq unleashed a scorching rebuttal. “Robert, stop speaking on Angel Reese. You don’t know her, you don’t know what’s going on,” Shaq posted. “Y’all always trying to speak on these young queens for attention. Don’t let me have to check you again.” The four-time NBA champion made it crystal clear—Reese was off-limits, and any attempts to create false narratives wouldn’t fly under his watch.

Reese herself didn’t hold back either, firing off, “Lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work.” Her message was clear—she wasn’t about to let anyone spin false stories about her and her word left no doubt she was fed up with the speculation.

Adding more fuel to the fire, Reese’s mother, also named Angel, chimed in. “My daughter’s circle is so small & tight, so I’d be interested 2 know who called U,” she wrote, accusing RGIII of fabricating sources. “Whomever U say ‘called’ U is not in her circle 2 speak on her feelings… the doors are closed over here.”

Shaq wasn’t done. He followed up with another pointed message, writing, “Keep these young sisters’ names out your mouth unless you speaking positivity. We protect ours over here.”

Since the backlash, RGIII has gone quiet.
