Five local teams competed Thursday in CIF Southern Section softball quarterfinals and three of them earned spots in the semifinals Saturday.
MORALES PROVIDES WALK-OFF
Burroughs defeated El Dorado 6-5 in nine innings to advance to the Division 4 semifinals to take on Fullerton. Sophomore Alyssa Morales provided the walk-off single to score Phoebe Spangler in the bottom of the ninth to capture the dramatic win for the Bears.

Stevie Dabbadie, who has been one of the area’s best pitchers this season, went all nine innings (163 pitches) and tallied seven strikeouts. Spangler was the standout from the plate, going 3 for 5 with three RBIs.
Burroughs will be taking on a Fullerton team that has yet to give up a run this postseason.
MOORPARK MOVES ON
Moorpark defeated JSerra on the road 6-3 to advance to the Division 2 semifinals against Great Oak. Standout pitcher Madison Finnerty threw a complete game and struck out four in the victory. Makenna Cerny went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
LIONS BOW OUT IN SEMIS
Oaks Christian’s outstanding season with new coach Cheyenne Coyle ended in the Division 1 semifinals with a 6-3 loss at Pacifica of Garden Grove. Nani Arreola hit two homers in the defeat.
Despite the loss, Oaks Christian has qualifed for the regional playoffs, which begin May 23.
TRAILBLAZERS FALL
Sierra Canyon’s postseason run came to an end with an 8-0 loss to Corona Santiago in the Division 3 quarterfinals.
The Trailblazers started the playoffs with a shocking road win at Santa Margarita (4-3) before taking down Sunny Hills (6-1) on the road and Diamond Ranch (4-2) at home.
VILLAGE CHRISTIAN CRUISES
Village Christian’s Bree Brennan tossed a three-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts in an 18-0 win over Cantwell Sacred Heart Thursday. Leah Mosley had two homers with five RBIs and Sydney Millman had a homer with five RBIs. Brennan added two hits with four RBIs.
Village Christian will play Lakewood St. Joseph in the Division 6 semifinals Saturday morning.
