Supporters to Hold Candlelight Vigil for Mark Ridley-Thomas in Advance of Sentencing

In advance of former L.A. Councilmember/Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas’ August 21 sentencing on bribery and honest services wire and mail fraud, supporters are holding a silent candlelight vigil.

The gathering will be held at 6:30PM on Sunday, August 20 across the Mark Ridley-Thomas Bridge located at the Kenneth Hahn State Recreational Park. The event is being hosted by the South Los Angeles Clergy for Public Accountability, the Empowerment Congress and the L.A. chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Said SCLC President William Smart, “This is a time for us to come together once again in support of Mark Ridley-Thomas. This whole movement around Mark and his career has been spiritual and Christ-centered and this is an opportunity for us not to forget the power of prayer in lifting he and his family up and sustaining him for deliverance.”
