Taco Bell and Yeastie Boys create a pop-up you weren’t expecting

Taco Bell is partnering with the Yeastie Boys food trucks on a special menu that will be available March 24-26 in Los Angeles.

The menu brings together that bagels and cream cheese that Yeastie Boys is known for with Taco Bell’s breakfast menu, according to Rene Pisciotti, Taco Bell executive chef, also known as the “Taco Whisperer.”

It includes such items as the Game Over Breakfast Crunchwrap, which turns Yeastie Boys’ signature sandwich made with bagels into Taco Bell’s signature breakfast wrap made with tortillas.

Other items include a bagel sandwich made with Cinnamon Twists, a grilled cheese sandwich, an egg quesadilla, an egg burrito and Bell Bagels with hot sauce schmears.

Not only is the “Taco Bell x Yeastie Boys Breakfast Menu” unusual and exclusive, it’s also free. Customers will be able to get one item without charge while supplies last, according to a news release from Taco Bell.

The two companies describe the giveaway as a gift to their “biggest LA fans.”

Speaking at a preview earlier this month in Taco Bell’s headquarters in Irvine, Pisciotti said the collaboration came about through his friendship with Yeastie Boys founder Evan Fox.

“Evan and I go back a long time,” he said. “We’ve been waiting for a chance to do something together. We finally had the opportunity.”

The recipes were developed in Taco Bell’s test kitchen.

“Evan would come in and over a three- or four-week period we would knock out one menu item after another, go back and forth.”

Creations use what Pisciotti describes as an obscene amount of Yeastie Boys’ cream cheese and, from the Taco Bell side, “an ungodly amount of cheddar.” The team created a special flavoring for the occasion called the Taco Bell x Yeastie Boys Everything Seasoning, featured in the quesadilla, as well as Everything aioli for the grilled cheese.

Trucks will be serving the menu 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the following locations, according to the news release.

Friday: Arts District, 584 Mateo St., Los Angeles.

Saturday: Venice, 1107 Abbot Kinney Blvd; Silverlake, 3900 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.

Sunday: 8420 Melrose Place Los Angeles; Studio City, 12103 Ventura Place, Los Angeles.
