Here is a sampling of things to do in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles area, March 16-23.

 

EVENTS

 

St. Paddy’s Eve: A night out at Santa Clarita’s 2023 SENSES Block Party series of events, geared for adults, kicks off with a St. Patrick’s Day/Irish theme with pub-style games (darts to pool), music by Craic in the Stone and food trucks, 7-10 p.m. March 16. Los Angeles Marathon: The “Stadium to the Stars” event takes place on March 19 with runners, competitive wheelchair and handcycle racers surging for 26.2-miles from Dodger Stadium to Century City. The 38th annual event has a slightly different finish line this year due to construction of a new Metro station in Century City — the finish is on Santa Monica Boulevard near the intersection of Avenue of the Stars. The last day to register as a walk-up may be available on March 17-18 at Dodger Stadium; check the website). Prior to the marathon there will be two special runs on March 18, solely at Dodger Stadium/Elysian Park: LA Big 5K at 8 a.m., and the LA Big 1/2K Kids Run at 9:30 a.m. for ages 3-8 (the Kids Run may still be available for registration; check the website). Also, on March 17-18, is a free “Health and Fitness Expo” that is open to the public at 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on March 17, and also, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on March 18 (free parking for both days; Dodger Stadium, in Lot G, 1000 Vin Scully Ave., Los Angeles). Point Mugu Air Show: The United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, and the United States Air Force Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, are scheduled to participate in the event, March 18-19. The event also includes the Red Bull Sky Dive Team, civilian air performers and static aircraft displays. Opening ceremony and the National Anthem, 10 a.m.; noon for most performances. Honor – In Their Words: Hollywood Legion Post 43 and WordTheatre present a special event, in advance of March 29, that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War when the last American troops left Vietnam. Stories by veterans of the Vietnam War and also Iraq and Afghanistan, and with their stories brought to life by actors, 7:30 p.m. March 18. Musical performances by Antonique Smith and Howard Hewett. America’s Got Talent tapings: Fans 8 and older can be part of the audience at the latest season of “America’s Got Talent” with Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Terry Crews. Casa de Lopez Adobe tours: The historic 1882 home to Catalina and Geronimo Lopez has docent-guided tours, 1-4 p.m. March 26, and on subsequent fourth Sundays of the month. ParaPod Festival: A two-day celebration of all-things paranormal. Titanic – The Exhibition: Take an immersive and interactive tour of the White Star Line ship that hit an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean.
