PASADENA — Running back Zach Charbonnet returned to action against Arizona on Saturday for UCLA.
Charbonnet missed last week’s game at Arizona State due to an unspecified injury, though he was dressed and tried to give it a go during warmups. He took part in practice this week.
Charbonnet had 94 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in the first half, which included a 37-yard run. UCLA trailed Arizona 21-14 at halftime.
Kazmeir Allen, who had a career-high 137 yards in Charbonnet’s place last week after converting from wide receiver, was not dressed for Saturday’s game. Allen appeared to sustain an in-game injury.
Keegan Jones was also hurt during last week’s game, but he was active on Saturday.
Without Charbonnet last week, both Allen and Jones had career rushing performances and the Bruins still ran the ball for over 400 yards in a 50-36 win over the Sun Devils.
Cornerback Devin Kirkwood, who also was hurt during last week’s game and missed at least a few days of practice, was also inactive Saturday.
Injuries had not been much of a factor this season for UCLA, with offensive lineman Martin Andrus Jr.’s season-ending injury the only long-term loss so far.
