On March 1, 2026, Roxanne Brown will be sworn in as the United Steelworkers next international president —making her the first woman and first Black to lead the 80-year-old organization. Praised as a lifelong champion of working families with a record of fighting for fair wages, accessible health care, secure retirements, and strong labor protections, the Kingston, Jamaica native pledged to honor the trust of the USW’s 850,000 members. “Together, we will build an economy that works for all of us—a system that rewards workers rather than corporations,” she said.
