UCLA update: The Bruins were stunned by Arizona 34-28 at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, suffering their second conference loss of the season. The loss likely drops UCLA out of contention for the College Football Playoff and complicates its path to the Pac-12 title game. … Zach Charbonnet, who ran for 181 yards and three touchdowns, has at least 100 yards rushing in his last eight Pac-12 games. He also recorded his third three-touchdown game of the season. But UCLA failed to score 30 points for the first time in 12 games. … UCLA’s defense allowed 436 total yards of offense to Arizona. Wildcats quarterback Jayden de Laura had 315 yards passing and eluded pressure from the Bruins’ defense.
USC update: The Trojans routed Colorado 55-17 at the Coliseum on Friday and are in first place in the Pac-12 after Saturday’s results. USC can clinch a spot in the Pac-12 title game with a win. … UCLA will have its hands full against USC quarterback Caleb Williams, a Heisman Trophy candidate who was 14 of 26 for 268 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffaloes. USC leads the Pac-12 in scoring at 42.4 points per game. … USC’s defense has also been a sore spot this season, and nearly allowed Cal mount to a comeback with 35 points on Nov. 5.
