Southern California Girls Athlete of the Week

Athlete: Alexa Bryson

School: Long Beach Poly

Sport: Cross country

Noteworthy: Bryson passed 40 runners and moved up from 100th place to 60th place during the final 2 miles of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Cross Country Finals at Mt. SAC on Saturday, Nov. 19, to help Long Beach Poly finish fifth overall and qualify for the CIF State Championships meet by a mere 13 points (places). Bryson finished as Poly’s third runner in a time of 19 minutes and 53 seconds on the extremely hilly 2.93-mile course. Poly will compete in the CIF State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 26 in Fresno.
