Here’s a look at California’s 30 lighthouses

California’s coastline is 3,427 miles long, and since the 1850s, the state’s lighthouses have helped mariners navigate rough seas and fog.

After hundreds of shipwrecks and not long after California became a state, lighthouses began to appear along the coast. Between 1855 and 1856, 10 lighthouses were established, two more than were first authorized.
