Mike West chosen as next CIF Southern Section commissioner

Mike West, the principal at ML King High School in Riverside, was named the next CIF Southern Section commissioner on Thursday.

The selection of West, 55, to lead the organization of 569 member schools, was made by the CIF-SS Executive Committee.

He will replace Rob Wigod, who is retiring in June. Wigod, who turns 64 on Saturday, has served as commissioner since 2011.

West begins his tenure as commissioner on July 5.

West has been the principal at King since 2015. He is a former president of the CIF-SS Executive Committee, a member of the CIF State Executive Committee and a member of the CIF State sports medicine advisory committee.
