Sarah Jakes Roberts, co-senior pastor of The Potter’s House in Dallas, is recovering after a serious trampoline accident on Saturday, April 18, that left her hospitalized with a neck injury. In a social media post shared Sunday, Jakes Roberts said she was playing with her daughter when she landed on her neck and “heard several pops.”
“Last night was scary. I was almost paralyzed, but God didn’t see fit to let that be my story,” she wrote. “I was playing a game with my Ella on the trampoline and landed on my neck. Instantly, I heard several pops in my neck. She called her dad, who called 911. Two hospitals, several scans, and hours later, we learned that I had fractured my neck, herniated discs, and endangered areas of my spine that could have left me paralyzed.”
Jakes Roberts noted that the outcome could have been far more severe. “One disc up or one disc lower, and this would’ve been a different testimony,” she said, adding that she will wear a neck brace for four to six weeks while she heals.
“Rest and recovery will give my body a chance to heal. I’ll be lying low while I navigate this injury with wisdom,” she continued. “I’m soaking in the presence and kindness of God and in the love of friends and family.”
Despite the seriousness of the injury, Jakes Roberts maintained her signature optimism, noting that while she may be moving slower, “just know that I’m still me—even with a neck brace.”
