After four decades of shaping lives through faith-based education, Crenshaw Christian Center has announced that it will close Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools, marking the end of an era for one of South Los Angeles’ most impactful Christian educational institutions.
Founded in 1986 with the establishment of Frederick K.C. Price III Elementary School—followed by the middle and high schools in 1987—the non-denominational preschool-through-12th-grade college preparatory program has been widely recognized as a trailblazer in Christian education. For 40 years, the school has provided rigorous academics within a disciplined, well-organized, and nurturing Christian environment.
Over its history, Price Christian Schools has achieved a 100 percent graduation and college acceptance rate, educated more than 10,000 students, and helped graduates secure more than $1 million in college scholarships. Many alumni have gone on to attend campuses across the University of California and California State University systems, Ivy League institutions, and other distinguished colleges and universities nationwide. More than 10 percent of graduates have also returned to the school community as teachers, mentors, parents, and coaches.
Angela Evans, CEO of Crenshaw Christian Center, reflected on the school’s legacy and lasting influence.
“Over the past 40 years, our alumni have been admitted to campuses across the University of California and California State University systems, Ivy League colleges and universities, and many other distinguished institutions nationwide,” Evans said. “Our graduates have entered diverse fields, including medicine, law, education and professional sports, carrying with them the values and preparation they received here.
“Our school and community have long been a Christian space where students are safe, loved, and genuinely cared for, and that legacy will endure far beyond these walls. We are deeply proud of what has been accomplished and of the thousands of young people whose lives were shaped at Price Christian Schools.”
